Re: Question 11.39

Well you are given this equation at 300 K and as you can see the equation you're given is two equations on the chart 11.2 combined. You can say that they are multiplied into one equation so you would look at both these equations on the chart at 300 and multiply their Kc.

Re: Quadratic formula

I want to add that you also don't use the number that is less than the initial concentration because once again you might be getting a negative concentration.

Le Chatelier's Principle

Can someone please give me a brief explanation of Le Chatelier's principle, I don't understand how increasing or decreasing the pressure/concentration of one molecule will affect the others.

When doing an ICE chart and adding or subtracting the X's, do you always subtract the reactant and add to the product?

Molecular Shapes

I have a question on what molecular shapes we are supposed to know because in the course reader we are given 5 different ones but the textbook on pg.109, there are 12 different kinds. Does anyone know which to focus on more?

Chapter 3

For Chapter 3 on question 25 we are told to write the chemical formula for the given compounds, are we supposed to know how to do this. Like for example we are given magnesium arsenide, and are told to write it out as Mgsub3 ASsub2.

Re: 1st and 2nd ionization energy? [ENDORSED]

Another small thing to remember about the 2nd ionization energy is that it will always be greater than the 1st for the reasons explained above.

Re: Quick Question about SO4

I believe that the second structure is more stable because you want the least amount of negatives in the formal charge. For example in the first structure you have 4 (-1) formal charges and in the second one you only have 2. If I am wrong please correct me.

Re: Thoughts after Test 1?

I realized that I felt so much pressure that I wasn't able to read the questions and interpret them the way I might have understood it. My friend had explained the question to me after the test and I had realized it was easier than I thought.
