Re: Homework problem 12.25

I ve found the equation in the book. Since I found the molarity of Ba(OH)2 to be 2.5x10^-2M, and Ba2+=2.5x10^-2M, OH-=0.05M, do I just need to do Kw=[h3o+][oh-] to find the concentration for h30+?

Homework problem 12.25

What would the dissociation be for Ba(OH)2, in order to find the molarities for Ba2+, OH-, and H3O+?

Re: Homework Problem Chapter 11 #25

In regards to my above post, could my incorrect answer be due to not considering the 1:2 ratio between H2 and HI? and possibly a sig fig error?

Re: Homework Problem Chapter 11 #25

With the given equation, I came up with:
794=[2.21x10^-3]^2/[X][1.46x10^-3]
can someone check my equation for accuracy? and then tell me the steps after to get the H2 concentration because I got 4.21x10^-6 when the answer is 2.1x10^-5?

The correct way to write the equilbrium expression

When writing the equilibrium constant, does it matter whether you put "P" before the products and reactants or put brackets?

ex. 4NH3(g)+6NO(g)--->7N2(g)+6H2O(g)

Kc=(PN2)^7(PH2O)^6/(PNH3)^4(PNO)^6 or Kc=[N2]^7[H2O]^6/[NH3]^4[NO]^6

Ideal calculator

Any suggestions for a calculator that will be useful for the entire chem 14 series? I have the TI-30XIIS now. Will that be fine or will I have to get another down the line?

Re: HW Question 17.31

For part b of this question, which is pentaamminesulfatocobalt (III) chloride, how do we find the number of chlorines needed? Correct me if I'm wrong but because there are 5 NH3 (0x5=0),one sulfato (-2x1), and cobalt has a charge of 3, the inside brackets will equal 1. What is outside the brackets ...

Chapter 4 Hw , 4.13A

4.13 The question says to write the lewis structure, VSEPR formula, molecular shape and bond angle for I3^-.
My answer AX2E3
How come the shape is Linear when there are 3 lone pairs?
Is there a rule for when lone pairs do/do not get considered in determining the name of the shape?

I am not sure if there is no lewis structure module or if I just am not seeing it. Could someone pls confirm whether or not one is posted on the Chem 14A website? Greatly appreciated!

i originally tried E=h(frequency), then would convert frequency= speed of light/lambda, but units arent canceling out...

Order of molecules balanced

if more than one element has the lowest amount, does it matter which element you choose to balance first?
