Re: Study Tips

Does anyone have any advice on how to take really good notes during lecture? I usually copy the slides but I always feel like he says some important things, I just never catch them on time since I'm too busying copying what the slides say I would say you should try to listen more to his lecturing b...

Re: Miderm Review

Alright. Thank You so much. I'm debating whether I should spend the $64 or not. Personally I wouldn't spend $64 on it. There's also the test bank on campus! You can try there to see if they have any previous midterms for chem (which I'm pretty sure they do). Also try asking people who have taken th...

Week 5 Homework

I know the homework for week5 is still on the quantum world but is it on the specific topics we're learning or can they be any practice problems from the entire chapter? Does that make sense? lol

Re: Reading the textbook

I like the textbook because of all the sample problems but I'm the type of person that needs step by step instructions and I need to see someone actually do ti so I can understand how to do something. So when I work on problems I follow along on youtube or khan academy to help me because reading it ...

Re: Study Tips

I find it best to work in groups and to quiz yourself and others too. Honestly I haven't taken chem in a LONG TIME and I struggle a lot with the problems (especially numbers) so working in groups and testing yourself works for me! Khan academy is great and youtube too! Hope that helps a bit!

Building up on electron configurations

I get confused with electron configurations once I reach the p-block of any row. I feel like when you get to the first element on the p-block you shouldn't really include it since it's 1. Can someone please explain to me a little more clearly on what to do.Sorry I get pretty lost

Atoms

Hi quick question because I'm a little confused. I came across a problem and was just wondering; when it asks how many atoms are in a molecule, is it asking how many moles are in it or is that something completely seperate?

Thank you!!

Re: Trouble in finding the Molecular Formula

I think you multiply the mole ratios by 2 or 3 to get the whole number (because there are never fractions). Then you use the new mole ratio to get the empirical formula. I think that's right.
