Re: Assumption for Subtracting X in Ka or Kb calculation [ENDORSED]

since the x value will be so small then it will most likely not change the concentration of the reactants such as Professor Lavelle mentioned in class where if you have 1 million dollars and take away a dollar you still pretty much have 1 million dollars.

bar is the atmospheric pressure at sea level so it can also be translated as as 100 kilopascals which is about 1 atm.

Re: pH and pOH

The pH measures the [H+] while pOH measures [OH-]. You start of by taking the -log of one of the concentration either [H+] or [OH-] and then to solve for the other concentration then use the following equation; pH+pOH=14.

I think that at this point we won't be given two negative numbers so I would just focus on the other possibilities.

The De Broglie equation is used to find the wavelength but you can find the energy of a photon by rearranging other equations.

I agree but I feel that we are going to mostly be asked to draw the lewis structure and just say what is the molecular shape like in the examples we did on Friday.

There are a few exceptions to electronegativity, "Important exceptions of the above rules include the noble gases, lanthanides, and actinides. The noble gases possess a complete valence shell and do not usually attract electrons. The lanthanides and actinides possess more complicated chemistry ...
