Cuz it's pretty basic stuff.

Re: Boiling water vs. steam
Liquid water just needs to cool down when it touches your skin--the resulting release of energy is actually quite low. Steam, however, needs to go through the process of changing phases on top of cooling down. The release of energy is almost ten times as much in this case, which explains why steam b...

Remember that since the placement of the atoms around the central atom will affect the polarity if it includes different electornegativies; some compounds can have both a polar and nonpolar configuration based on how the peripheral atoms are arranged.

Yeah, so even though the pi bond is weaker, it does provide some strengh to the existing bond, so it results in a double bond that would be stronger the sigma alone.

Re: Concept // Wave-like Behavior [ENDORSED]
I'm pretty sure that if you change the wavelength, you do affect the ejected electron. As the wavelength shortens, you end up with a higher energy from the photon, which in turn transfers a larger kinetic energy to the ejected electron. The number of electrons set off by one photon is always one tho...

Re: Light travels as a "wave"
I've read that the electric and magnetic fields of the light vibrate at right angles to the direction the light wave is moving, and because it is made of electric and magnetic fields, it, unlike other waves, does not need a medium to travel through. What this means physically is beyond me, sorry.

Re: Molarity and Dilution (G25)
How I would go about that is to set up the equation between molarity, moles and volume. Starting with 10. mL (.010 L) and .10 mol L-1, we can set up .10 M= .0010 moles / .010 L So that'd be the initial equation. The independent variable we want to change is the volume, which we double 90 times (2^90...

I think the CuSO4*5H2O is a hydrated version of the salt, so while it isn't just a solution, it does definitely have water in it. I kind of imagine it as the Cu and SO4 molecules breaking up slightly enough to allow the H2O to bind with it. Once you've poured in 250 mL though, it's definitely a solu...

I'm pretty sure if it's asking how many atoms are in a molecule, it would be asking you to count up the number of atoms present in the molecular formula (for example, H2O has three atoms in a molecule, 2 hydrogens and 1 oxygen).

Re: Avogadros Number
Part of the reason why Avogadro's number comes up a lot is that it's the number of atomic mass units that would weight 1 gram; if you had 1 mole of just neutrons you would have the equivalent of 1 gram. In a way, you can think of it as another conversion factor, like 12 inches in a foot, 6.022*10^23...
