How do you determine is a structure is better than another?

Re: Cations and Anions [ENDORSED]

Can anyone go into detail on exactly what the difference is between cations and anions? I am having difficulty differentiating the two.

Re: When to use De Broglie Equation [ENDORSED]

To add onto this question, is there any way to connect finding the kinetic energy with the de Broglie equation? Since both contain mass, I wasn't sure if they could be used together.

Re: λ=c/v VS. λ=h/mv

You decide what equation to use based on the information you are given in the question. If the frequency is given in the equation and you want to find wavelength, use λ=c/v. In addition, if you are given energy in J and you need to find wavelength, you would use E = hv to find the frequency and the...

Re: Identifying Empirical and Molecular Formulas [ENDORSED]

What are the differences between the Molecular and Empirical formulas? More specifically, how do you identify one from the other? I have a similar additional question to add to this post. When doing a problem, what is the best way to realize if I have found the molecular or empirical formula? Somet...

Re: Formula Units [ENDORSED]

A formula unit is the group of ions that match the formula of the smallest unit of an ionic compound. When the question is asking for the number of formula units, the procedure is to first calculate the number of moles by dividing the mass of the sample given by the molar mass of the compound. Then...
