The best way to memorize this is to do the opposite of what the sign is asking for, 3+ion means you take away 3 (-3) electrons from the configuration. This makes it easier to look for the element, which should be three elements to the right.

I also agree it depends on the question being asked. I personally would study, and be comfortable drawing out the simplest structure but also know the differences of the other structures.

I suggest asking your TA or Lavelle, but definitely do many homework problems, and understand the examples he does in class. Give the chapter a quick read would not hurt to better supplement the material.

As long as you know the most used forms, mili, kilo, nano, you should be fine. But memorizing the lists above are super helpful too.

I would use 2.998*10^8 due to it being the one used in the textbook. Stay with the most accurate number.

Something I was told during discussions is that it would be beneficial to memorize the atomic masses of CO2, N2, O2, H2O due to the fact that they are used very often on tests it will make it easier and gives you more time.

Hello. For A.) I also got 1.2 x 10^-14mol. Although form answer was different for part B.) 2.6 x 10^6 years instead of 2.7. You can double check your work in the solutions manual, there answer is also 2.6. Hope it helps.
