Re: Enzymes

enzymes generally lower the activation energy because it would decrease the energy barrier that needs to be overcome in order for the reaction to begin. Thehrefore, because enzymes increase reaction rate, the activation energy is lowered for it to do so.

Re: Half life constant and Rate reaction constant

yes, order does matter when you are solving for k. That is why the units differ for the k value in each rate order.

Re: E of a Redox [ENDORSED]

E of a redox is an intensive property meaning that it does not matter the size or amount of material so there is no need to multiply it to another number.

Re: Enthalpy calculated from Bonds vs Enthalpy of formation

This is because you are adding the average enthalpies within the bonds. Therefore, when you add up the total enthalpies, it is slightly inaccurate.

Condensation is an exothermic reaction because heat is being released during the phase change from a gas to liquid.

Re: q(sys) = -q(surr)

The zeroeth Law of Thermodynamics states that heat flows from the hotter object to the cooler object. When it is flowing from one object to another, it flows from the system to the surroundings. When releasing heat, it is an exothermic process which is a negative value and so you would use the q(sys...

Re: reaction enthalpies

You only need to change the sign because the destinations are reversed now. Point B goes back to point A as opposed to the forward reaction. This only causes a sign change because enthalpy is a state function and only depends on the state of the reaction and disregards the path.
