1.37 [ENDORSED]
Hi! Can someone please explain 1.37 from the textbook HW problems. I know I need to use the De Broglie equation, but how do I find the mass of a proton/neutron? Is it just a value I should have memorized, or would it be given? 1.37) Protons and neutrons have nearly the same mass. How different are t...

Example 1.5 Analyzing the Photoelectric Effect
Hi! I am feeling a little but confused by part C of the example problem 1.5 (pages 14 and 15 in the textbook). This part of the question asks us what to find the longest wavelength that could eject electrons from the sample (Potassium with a work function of 2.29 eV and speed 668km/s-1). I followed ...

Limiting Reactant Calculations Post-Module Assessment
I have a question regarding one of the questions on the "Limiting Reactant" audio-visual module. 20. How many moles of CO2(g) are produced when 1 kg of CaCO3(s) is used to neutralize an acid spill? The equation for the reaction at 1 atm and 25 degrees C is: CaCO3(s) + H2SO4(aq) ---> CaSO4(...

Re: Molecules [ENDORSED]
I find it is easier to separate them in my mind if I think of moles as a unit quantity, sort of like a counting unit. Moles = the quantity of a substance (equal to number or particles in 12 grams of carbon-12) OR (6.022 x 10^23). Whereas, a molecule is a structural element between atoms (two or more...
