How do you know when something is hybridized and how do you know which hybrid orbital it is

What is a coordination compound and do they relate in anyway to hybridization or are they completely different?

If it has three reactions of density but one is a lone pair, wouldn’t that be bent?

4.5 Shape

How is the shape regional planar if there are only two e- densities? Why is the bond angle 120° and not 180° if there are two lone e- pairs that cancel each other out

At what point, when doing electron configurations for the 3D block, can you put 3d before 4s? Is it when you’ve finished the 3d row and started filling the 4p block?

Re: When to use a double bond or triple bond [ENDORSED]

You should start drawing your Lewis structures with a single bond and then fill the octets. If they are full and you still have electrons that need to be added then add a double bond and try to use the electrons that you need to. If you can’t fill the octets due to a lack of electrons then try using...

Re: Cations and Anions [ENDORSED]

Cations have lost an electron. Because there is now one more proton than electron, it has a positive charge. You can remember this by the t in cation because it's like a positive sign (+). An anion has gained an electron. Because it now has one more electron than proton, it has a negative charge.

Lengths of Bonds

If a molecule such as C2H2 has one triple bond between the two Carbons and single bonds with the two Hydrogens. Is the triple bond shorter than the single bonds? I was confused by resonance, but there can only be one possible Lewis structure for C2H2 so there isn't resonance, right?

Re: Wave Properties of Electrons [ENDORSED]

X-Rays show diffraction as they pass through a crystal, because electrons do the same you can relate them to a wave such as x-rays.

A joule is defined as: the SI unit of work or energy, equal to the work done by a force of one newton when its point of application moves one meter in the direction of action of the force, equivalent to one 3600th (60^2) of a watt-hour.

The two words can be interchangeable and you shouldn't get marked off for using one or the other unless specified.
