Re: Amphiprotic vs Amphoteric

They’re different definitions (bronstead/lewis) of the same type of acid/base

If had prosperities of both an acidic oxide and a basic oxide.

Re: Radicals

Radicals almost always tend to bond with another element as quickly as they can, which is why they don’t exist for very long.

Re: Exceptions

Many elements can have expanded orbitals, keep that in mind when creating your lewis structures.

They’ll be on the test as we covered them in class.

I know we do it a different way in class, but khan academy had a really helpful video for this:

We probably will, but it's not an overly complicated topic. Khan academy has some great videos covering this topic.

Re: Resonance Structures

The more you know about a question, the more thorough your work and answer should be. It can't hurt to provide as much information as possible and it can only help you when it's graded.

The midterms only cover material we've covered in Class, and we haven't covered hybridization and sig/pi bonds, so it's a fair assumption they won't be on the midterm.

Re: Ionization Energies

Thats right, Helium Electrons are held very tightly by the nucleus, as you go down the periodic table the electrons get further and that pull gets weaker.

Re: Kinetic Energy and Speed of Light Variables [ENDORSED]

In the kinetic energy equation, v = velocity. It's kinetic so you know it's going to be velocity instead of anything else.

Re: color of light

Color is interpreted based on the spectrum; we use wavelength because it's the easier of the two, vs frequency.

Re: % Yield

The question doesn't really make sense - for example, if you were dealing with an experiment that, in a best case scenario, would yield a microscopic amount of product, it's still an acceptable % yield.

Usually deal with sig figs at the end, that way your calculations remain the same as anyone else doing the problem.

Re: Significant Figures for E.21 (b)

The solutions manual doesn't always follow the same sig fig notation, and usually when it comes to assignments and tests the work is often as important as the answer. As long as your steps are correct and your answer is on point, you'll be fine.
