But in other problems there have been compounds that included oxygen in the empirical formula so how can we assume that O2 is the only thing that contributes to all the oxygen?

Yes all substances have London forces, because all molecules have the possibility of having dipole moments which I think are the same thing as London dispersion forces.

I'm confused like on the number of valence electrons of transition metals. For example why does Ti have 4 valence electrons if it only has 2 electrons in the s orbital and none in the p?

Because the electrons are in the same shell there's less shielding from the protons so they are more tightly held making the atomic radius smaller across a period.

I was looking back at the fundamentals and I kept seeing the phrase "formula units." When a question asks you to find a quantity in terms of formula units does that just mean in terms of atoms?

There are 4 different quantum numbers and each gives you an idea of where the electron is located in an atom. 2 electrons can't share more than 3 numbers because that would mean that they are in the same location which is not possible because they would repel each other due to like charges.
