Re: Saying Thank You to Dr. Lavelle

Dear Dr.Lavelle, Thankyou so much for teaching this class this quarter. Although I was really scared this quarter, you were a great professor. One thing I really enjoyed from your class was that you really taught the basics for those who weren't as familiar with the material from high school. Thanky...

Chem community isn't letting me post a new question so I thought id ask you. How can you tell if it’s acidic, basic, or amphoteic if we’re just given the molecule?

All of them should be on the test but I recommend doing similar problems until you get the hang of it because you naturally will start to remember the steps of how to solve those problems!

Will we need to know what kind of electromagnetic radiation was used by finding the wavelength of radiation like in problem 1.33 for the test, or should we just know how to find what the radiation wavelength is?

Dr. Lavelle usually rounds and when I do some practice problems with the actual number, I end up getting the same thing so I don't think you should stress to hard about that.

Dr.Lavelle also mentioned in class on the first day that he would not give us a compound without its molecular formula until we learn exactly how to name them. Hope that helped!
