No valence electrons are the only electrons that participate in bonding and therefore determine the overall molecular shape

Instead of calculating the formal charge, could one simply make sure that all the atoms have the correct number of valence electrons ? or would this not work all the time?

Will we need to know the ionization exceptions for the midterm? Such as Oxygen has a lower ionization energy than Nitrogen even though it is to the right of Nitrogen?

Is it correct to say that as soon as the 3d orbital has at least one electron you write it before the 4s orbital except for Cr and Cu?

Regarding this same question, I thought the electron configuration for silver (Ag) would be [Kr] 5s^2 4d^9 but the solutions manual has the answer as [Kr]4d^10 5s^1. Why does the 4d come before the 5s?

M1 hw

In the solutions manual to this question it shows the calculation of obtaining the moles of 2NH3 as 35.0g/17.031g. I was a bit confused on why 17.031 was being used, isn't the molar mass of 2NH3 31.038g.mol-1?
