I don't think so but if we do, the intermediate steps will probably be given and we just have to add them in the equation.

I don't think it matters as long as you match it with what your doing on the opposite side and if you watch out for positive and negative sign.

The molecular formula cannot be found in this question. Usually, the molecular mass is needed and the problem provides you with this information. In this question, C8H8O3 is the empirical formula found through the mass percentages. To find the molecular formula, you would need the MM.
