Since an increase in size and molar mass results in stronger attractive interactions, does that mean that it also increases the polarizability of an atom?

Why does the D-block contain lower energy when it is half full and when it is full? If the D-level is full, wouldn't it have more energy than it being half full?

On problem F9, I understand how to find the atom ratios and the limiting reactants, but what I don't understand is how to get the molecular formula of vanillin based on the calculations. How do I figure out that the molecular formula is C8H8O3 based on my calculations?

I don't understand how to calculate the volume of the solution the researcher needs for problem G11 of the 6th edition. How do I know which is the initial volume of the problem is if I am just given the initial mass and final mass?
