You do not need to draw double bonds coming at you, not in this course ever. But in those cases, you would always avoid the situation by making the other bonds come at you instead of the double bond.

The formal charge of a molecule could be zero but still be polar. Typically, a molecule is only non-polar if there is only one type of element surrounding an atom. If there are two or more types of elements surrounding an element, the molecule will probably be polar.

With a double bond, the molecule would have a +2 formal charge, while with a triple bond, the molecule would have +0 formal charge. Therefore, carbon monoxide needs a triple bond to be more stable.

Also, a helpful way to determine if an interaction is dipole-dipole is by first figuring out the shape of each molecule.

Boron is in group 13 along with Aluminum. They both need 5e- to complete their octet and are apart of a class of Acid-Base reactions. Boron in BF3 only completes its octet if another atom provides both e- to form a coordinate covalent bond.

We will not be allowed to use graphing calculators as Lavelle said people could use them to record formulas and store functions, but we will be able to use scientific calculators.

Yeah we do not need to memorize the molar masses of each element, however, as we progress in this course it will be helpful to know the molar masses for some of the more basic elements such as H, O, C, etc. This will save time during tests and quizzes.

Yes, the molar mass of the element needs to be multiplied by the subscript in order to find the chemical formula.

Furthermore, the subscript indicates the number of moles.
