If the Gibbs Free energy of a rxn is lees than zero, then that means it will occur spontaneously.

If you have an initial temp and final temp (that is temp is changing and volume is not), then you would use the equation with ln(T2/T1). Versus if its the opposite (temp is constant and volume is changing), the you would use the equation with ln(V2/V1).

H2O is used to balance oxygens, then since you added extra H with the water, you balance the H2O with H+

How do you determine which half rxn is the oxidation half and which is the reduction half? I always get confused on this.

I'm pretty sure if you r final answer has water on both sides you can cancel out no matter what, since that gives the same but a simpler answer.

since oxygen atoms are balanced with H20, you have to then balance the H20 with H+. Because of this, you would put the H+ with the Cr2O7

One thing to look for is if something has a lone pair of electrons, it would be a Lewis base because it would donate those electrons.

larger atoms have more attractive forces between them because they have more electrons, so they they will have stronger dispersion forces holding them closer together and will therefore be liquid at room temp rather than gases.

Electronegativity decreases as you go down a period because the atoms have more shells of electrons, so the valence electrons are farther from the nucleus. This means that the pull on the electrons is not as strong as in the atoms closer to the top of the period.

I was unsure about what the problems meant by formula units as well, but I just treated it as sort of a synonym for "molecule". So one of the problems asked how many formula units of a compound are in 5.15 g, I just found how many molecules would be in 5.15 g, using Avogadro's number.
