Re: Interaction potential energy, relation to distance

The closer together the electrons are, which is relative to r, the bigger interaction energy there is and the harder it is to break those bonds.

Does anyone know if there will be anymore audio visuals posted for the rest of the quarter?

Re: Trigonal Shapes

Trigonal Planar only has three areas of electron density whereas trigonal pyramidal has four, one of them being a pair of lone pair electrons. The bond angles for a trigonal planar molecule is 120 because that is as far apart from each other as possible and trigonal pyramidal is a little less than 1...

Polar bears are really good at working together in chemistry because they create polar bonds.

Dispersion/ Induced dipole-Induced dipole

Can anyone exlpain how an induced dipole- Induced dipole bond works, like how does the electron distortion lead to polarization of the molecule?

Re: Px. Py, Pz

The x, y, and z can be represented as an axis on a graph, so saying an electron is in the Pz orbital basically tells the orientation on a three-dimensional graph. So Pz is basically telling you the electron is in the z-plane on a graph. At least that is how I view it conceptually.

Re: Rounding

I found it easy to turn the decimal into a fraction and seeing the number from that standpoint. For example, 1.33 is approximately 4/3 and in order to make that a whole number, you just need to multiply everything by 3!

FREE Textbook

Hey there! If anyone doesn't want to buy a textbook, I have a 5th edition Chemical Principles textbook I'm willing to give up for free. I compared the two and they're pretty similar and could be a good additional study tool(:
