for 14g we labeled the difference between the energy of the reactants and that of the products as deltaG, but in Joyce's notes we labeled it deltaH; can someone explain why they both work or why not or whatever that's supposed to be labeled as??

Energy in photoelectric effect problems
While doing these types of problems it gets a little confusing determining which type of energy (photon, required to remove e-, or excess/kinetic) either for which I'm solving or given. Are there any key words within a question to look for to help differentiate them?
