Re: How to Determine

Yeah I was in discussion today and I am still confused about hybridization. I just remember it being an interaction with the P & S orbitals but I am still confused. If there is any visual representation to help us visualize it, that would be soo helpful.

Re: Posted Grades

Yeah I still haven't gotten my midterm back ( I think I might get it tomorrow since my TA might leave it with another ) but I still can't see the grades on MyUCLA. I've heard that they may be on CCLE but that doesn't make sense. So, I guess we'll have to wait then

Re: What to memorize in VSEPR?

So will the next test just involve having to memorize the bond angles and types of shapes? I feel that's probably the most important thing to know in VSEPR but I could be wrong

I'm confused about this too. Do we have to know this nomenclature for the next test and/ or the final? Any help is appreciated

Is there last year's midterm on the website? I've been doing practice problems for the time being but that would be helpful

Re: Formal Charge Equation

So we count the individual dots in the lone pairs not the number of pairs themselves to. I learned that Formal Charge =V-(L+S/2) where V= valence e, L was the number of lone pairs, and s=number of shared electrons. I'm just a little confused about the lone pairs as I keep counting them as pairs and ...

Limiting Reactant Steps General Question

I know at some point, which I think is calculating the molar mass, we envision 100g of the reactants in order to find the moles but I am confused as to why we see it that way. I believe this is during the step where we convert from masses to moles. Thanks

I am still confused as to how the answer gets 3 astatine atoms to balance the pan of gallium. Can someone explain more about how to get this conclusion? Thanks!

How do I go about starting this problem/setting it up? I feel like it's more confusing than it should be.
