Lewis Acids and Bases and Bronsted?

What is the difference between lewis acids and bases and bronsted acids and bases? And how can you determine both?

Re: Naming Fe coordination compounds

There are some weird rules regarding naming, iron can be ferrous and water has to be aqua. I'm pretty sure Lavelle has a link to naming rules on his main class website if you need more help.

Hybridization depends on the shape of the molecule and is the shape of the molecule.

Also when can we know that bond angles are less than what they usually are? Like I remember in lecture Lavelle said a bond angle was 106.5 degrees.

Re: Ground State Electron Configurations

To make sure that the electron configuration is not extremely long, you use noble gasses. The last noble gas before Copper is Argon, which counts for 18, and you then have to find the configuration for the remaining amount of electrons. (Cu) 29- (Ar)18=11 electrons

Re: energy in shells closer to the nucleus

Since the electrons are closer to the nucleus, they are closer to a positive charge which then makes the energy level of the electron lower.

Yea we definitely have not learned that yet. If I can recall correctly, I'm pretty sure Professor Lavelle said it was okay if we couldn't do that yet. I'm not sure if we need to or even will eventually learn that in this quarter.

The only difference are the units. The numbers remain the same. The units for molecular weight are in atomic mass units and the units for molar mass are in grams per mole.

Empirical Formula Calculations

When calculating the empirical formula and calculating whole atoms by dividing by the smallest value, can I round if the number I get is not a whole number? For example if I got something like 4.93, could I round it to 5?
