Re: 7A 15

By looking at the first and fourth experiment, you can see that the only concentration change is C but the initial rate in both those experiments are the same, therefore concentration doesn't change the rate of the reaction and that's the definition of a zero order reaction.

That's correct! zeroth-order reactions have rates that won't vary when the reactant concentrations change. If the concentrations of reactants change and the rate remains the same, the reaction is zero order.

If you need to solve a PV=nRT equation, temperature will almost always be given. Also, R is a constant on our sheet, you just need to figure out which R works in the situation (whether or not the problem is asking in bar or atm).

Kp is for pressure, whereas Kc is for concentration. When writing out the formula for Kp, you must say the partial pressure of the compound (for example, P subscript O2). For Kc, you don't use the large P, you simply put it in brackets to indicate concentration.

It'll depend on if the reaction is endo- or exo- thermic.

If endothermic, the reaction will move to the right when heat is added.

If exothermic, the reaction will move to the left when heat is added.

If the reaction is endothermic, then the products are favored when temperature increases.

If the reaction is exothermic, then the reactants are favored when temperature increases.

The opposite is true for each of the above statements when temperature decreases.
