Specific Heat Capacity and Heat Capacity

Why is Specific Heat Capacity an extensive property if it pertains to that individual reaction? Meanwhile heat capacity is an intensive property even though it constantly changes with matter?

Re: Molecularity

For example on problem 49 on edition 6, each step has it's own molecularity and order. Step 1 is just taking the reactants HBr and NO2 and multiplying them. Each one has a coefficient of 1 and so individually they have an order of one. However, when added k[HBr][NO2] the order becomes two. This infl...

Re: Molecularity

You would still have to find the overall order but they are based on the orders taken from each elementary step.

Catalyst vs Intermediate

The difference between the two is that a catalyst is there to begin with and does not get used up. Meanwhile the Intermediate gets formed between the steps of the reaction.

This would be the molecule that you cancel out when combining step 1 and step two because an intermediate is formed.

First Order vs Second Order Reaction Half- Life

When finding seconds for problem 27 in edition 6 it was just finding 1/2^n. Does this change when it is no longer first order? For example in problem 35 edition 6 the same method no longer works? Is it because it is second order?

They are written differently with zero order having moles first and second order having Liters first. Therefore, do they have different units so they must be written in this order or do they have the same regardless of the order?

Reaction Rate vs Rate of Consumption/Formation

In the third question of the sixth edition book, it had three parts one asks for the reaction rate and the other two asks for the rate of formation. What is the difference between these two because the book does not really give an equation for the reaction rate just for the rate of formation.

In the 6th Edition in Problem 14.23, Part C

For part C what makes the equation non-spontaneous. Does the fact that it only have an anode make it non spontaneous or do we need to solve for deltaG to prove it? However if it is the latter, how do we go about finding the deltaG without the cathode?

When do we know to change the X to zero so that we do not have to do the quadratic formula?
Does this change when there is now multiple reactions happening as in a solution that has a weak acid and salt that disassociates.
