The change refers to what change is happening to that species, and we use x because we don’t know the exact amount that changes (either taken away or added/created)

Re: Number of questions on test one [ENDORSED]
the test takes place during your discussion section starting Tuesday of next week. Also, I had Caram last quarter and we had weekly quizzes each worth 5 points total but he would write the number of points each question was worth next to the questions so we knew how much weight each question carried...

Re: 11.43 6th edition
It looks like this question is just testing you on your ability to understand the equation for K, and not necessarily solve for any value. Therefore the solution is just K = pressure of the products / pressure of the reactants, since some of this is unknown you substitute 'x' for those pressures and...

Re: Kp
I believe you can usually figure out whether or not to use Kp or Kc based on the information given surrounding the chemical equation because both can be used for gases but sometimes certain information is required depending on the K you are asked to use.

Re: Q and K
Usually if you are solving a problem involving both K and Q, you will be given a value for K for which you will compare the value you get for Q to. This is because the chemical equation you are given is not necessarily at equilibrium, and to find this out you compare your K and Q values (if they are...

Re: Q 11.47
First you have to use an ICE table to find the concentrations at equalibrium (to get your quadratic you should use the equation for K and your given K value), then you can use those numbers to figure out the percent that decomposed for part b
