Okay, I've been having a complete brain fart because it's been so long since I dealt with simple log functions. When converting say log x = 8, how do you solve for x? I can't remember exactly whether you use e, or if its a simple exponential function.

I know there's no curve, but 50% is passing with a C-. How does the rest of the class grading balance out if a C- is 50%? is it 50-75% is a C- and then the rest, C-A+ follows a normal grading scale, or is it evened out to, say, 50-65% is a C scale, 66-80% is a B scale, etc etc?

K is a ratio of Products/Reactants (to think about it algebraically, say Products=a and Reactants=b). If K=1, then that means a/b=1, meaning a=b. If K>1, then a has to be greater than b in order to make the ratio larger than one, and if K<1, b has to be greater than a to make the ratio smaller.

Okay so I want to double check that this is true:
I was told that even though there is no curve in this class, a passing grade (C-) is 50%, or essentially a 250/500. Is this true? I can't find it stated in the syllabus and ya girl is hyper stressing about this final, so I need to know. Thank you.

So I know that Br, I, and P can break the octet rule in lewis structures, but I read that there are other elements that can do this too, like Cl occasionally. Which elements are we required to know that break the octet rule for this class?

My understanding is that there is no curve, but there will probably be a grade adjustment based on the class average. A curve would prohibit say, the bottom 10% of the class from passing, but an adjustment allows the entire class the opportunity to pass, no matter their rank in grade.

So I'm a little confused... Do sig figs refer only to the number of figures after a decimal point (say 1.02), or do they refer to the whole number, before and after the decimal? So would, say, the number 1.02 have 2 sig figs, or 3?

I think he might dock partial credit, but I doubt he'll significantly ding us. I took Chem 20a last year (long story) and my professor made no attempt to even teach us about sig figs or worry about it lol. Just try to be consistent.
