kg are used sometimes when converting Joules. I think looking at the problem first and trying to figure out what the problem is asking will help with what units are needed.

Re: Hw problem 1.37- 6th edition

De Broglie Equation is used because the proton and the neutron are not involved with a photon, or light, so that is why this equation is used. The mass of a proton and a neutron are giving on the equation and constant sheet.

Yes, I believe they are the same trends. However, I think that electron affinity is greater on the top right of the periodic table (like near the Nobel gases).

Re: Using a rounded speed of light in EM problems

I also have the same problem because in class we used 3.00, but on the constant sheet another value is given for the speed of light. On the test I used 3.00 and got the right answer so I think this value would be easier to use when using a calculator.

Re: Calculating process

When calculation the problem you should keep the value in its original form so the number at the end is precise. Also, you would have two sig figs in the answer because you look at the least amount of sig figs in the question.

Find the molecular formula for 39.43% C, 52.58% O, and 7.88% H.
I was wondering if someone could explain what the steps are after we find the moles through the empirical formula?

O: 1.001 mol
H: 2.376 mol

Also, could someone post the answer so I can check.

Also, there is another rule for sig figs with decimal points. Zero's count with decimal, but zero's don't count without decimals.
Example: 420 is two sig figs, but 420. is three sig figs
