Yes, I believe they are the same trends. However, I think that electron affinity is greater on the top right of the periodic table (like near the Nobel gases).

I also have the same problem because in class we used 3.00, but on the constant sheet another value is given for the speed of light. On the test I used 3.00 and got the right answer so I think this value would be easier to use when using a calculator.

When calculation the problem you should keep the value in its original form so the number at the end is precise. Also, you would have two sig figs in the answer because you look at the least amount of sig figs in the question.

I don't think that you have to memorize the spectrum, but I think we would need to know the inverse relationship with frequency and wavelength.

I think in lecture he said that the speed of light in a vacuum is 3.0x10^8 m/s, but I would probably go off the "Constants and Equations" worksheet on the website.

They can both be used, but I would check the what the problem is asking for and the units that are needed.

E = hf = hc/λ. This is the equation that is needed and the constant needed is h = 6.62608 × 10^–34 J.s

I was wondering if someone could explain what the steps are after we find the moles through the empirical formula?
These are the moles I got:
C: 1 mol
O: 1.001 mol
H: 2.376 mol

Also, could someone post the answer so I can check.

Also, there is another rule for sig figs with decimal points. Zero's count with decimal, but zero's don't count without decimals.
Example: 420 is two sig figs, but 420. is three sig figs
