I think you should post until Saturday just to be safe because that's before the final.

The values aren't given on the periodic table so knowing the trend would be helpful to use as an estimate of how electronegative a molecule is. Also keep in mind that fluorine is the most electronegative

Yes. Also because the more negatively charged the atom is, the more polarizability.

Elements with expanded octets can have more than 8 electrons. Usually elements in period 3 have expanded octets meaning you can put more than 8 electrons on those elements

There is no curve for the class however, 250/500 is a c- and the rest of the grades are based on a straight/regular scale.

In most cases you want your formal charge to equal to zero, however, there are times when the formal charge will not equal to zero. That doesn't mean you're wrong

Re: How does grading for discussion posts work?
Does the number of posts you have roll over to the next week? Like if you were to have 1 post one week and then 5 the next, would that count as 6 points? I don't think that they do because in the syllabus it says to have 3 posts per week which is 3 points for that week, however you can do more than...

Yes. If you divide the given molar mass and the molar mass you get by solving the question and the result is 1, then most likely the empirical formulas and the molecular formula will be the same.

Re: How To....
When balancing equations, I usually just list how much of each element is present (a technique I learned in High school), from there I just balance the equation from left to right taking into consideration the number of elements on each side.
