Nikitha_lakshminarayanan3I wrote:Has professor Lavelle announced what material will be covered through on test 3?

Yes he did.
He said, "Test 3 covers: End of Bonding from 3.12 (6 Ed.) and from 2D (7 Ed.); and all of Molecular Shape and Structure (see Syllabus and Outlines for details)."

Re: Midterm studying

I find completing practice problems extremely helpful! Try to do all the hw problems and other problems in the textbook. Also, reviewing the tests and going over the problems again and your mistakes. There are also other practice problems that some of the UAs have posted!! I believe there will be s...

This great information, thank you for sharing.

Re: Khan Academy

I personally find Khan Academy a useful addition to studying as, especially if you're a visual learner, Khan academy helps to clarify information that initially seems hard to understand. But I would also recommend to make sure that the videos you are watching are relevant to class material. I agree...

Re: DeBroglie Equation Post Assessment

The answers above give you the correct answer, but just make sure that you use parenthesis in your calculator! I know that in my experience I sometimes get the wrong answer when I'm dividing by something like Planck's Constant, it can get confusing if you are dividing while multiplying by 10^34, so...

Re: Uncertainty

Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle was created for very small masses, such as atoms and electrons. For example, in the example he gave us with sensors, the photons thrown changes the direction of an electron, but a photon cannot move you, or a baseball, or a fly. Thank you for this, really helpful ...

Re: Rusty on High School Chem [ENDORSED]

I have been reviewing each concept after lecture by watching the Crash Course videos on YouTube. They have been helpful in clarifying and breaking down what is being taught in class. I definitely recommend watching a few. Hope it helps! This is awesome. I always liked watching videos that break dow...

Re: Rusty on High School Chem [ENDORSED]

I have found that Dr. Lavelle is very effective at reviewing all necessary fundamentals needed for that lesson at the beginning of lecture. I took Honors Chemistry sophomore year and I am also a freshman this year. For me at least, the best way I've found to really get through the material is to wa...

Re: Rusty on High School Chem [ENDORSED]

I'm in a similar place having not taken Chemistry in 4 years. I worried about this as well but I have come to realize that this class is lower division and therefore Lavelle is accustomed to teaching rusty students. He gave many useful resources including study sessions both on the Hill and on camp...

Re: Exam

You look at the givens and determine the one with the least amount of sig figs. Your answer should reflect that number of sig figs. Ex: givens 5.12345, .00000023, and .12. The least amount of sig figs is 2 in .12 So your answer should have 2 sig figs. Hope this helps. Thank you for this. It really ...

Re: Number of questions on test one [ENDORSED]

I attended a chemistry study session where I was told there would only be about 3-4 questions, but most likely with multiple parts. I was also told that really studying and understanding what is listed in Outline 1 would help us on the test! I don't know how strict they'll be on grading though:/ Th...
