Re: Polarity in Trigonal bipyramidal structures
Trigonal bipyramidal is a very symmetrical shape so individual dipole-dipole moments cancel and there is no net dipole moment.

Re: mono- prefix
The prefix is used when there is one ligand type in the complex ion. It would probably be best to include it to be as specific as possible.

Re: Factors for Acid Stength [ENDORSED]
Resonance will increase the stability of the conjugate base so the acidity will be increased as well. A larger atom can accommodate a negative charge better so the base will be more stable and the acid will be stronger. If an atom has a larger electronegativity, it will be less inclined to share ele...

Ligands with more than one bonded atom (central metal atom) are considered polydentate. The prefixes mentioned are used with composite ligand names to avoid confusion.

Water completely dissociates Na and Cl in salt and surrounds the atoms. The water donates electron pairs to Ni in NiCl and forms coordinate compounds.

Re: Examples of intermolecular forces
An example of dispersion forces is the non polar carbon dioxide molecule. Dispersion forces are considered Van der Waals forces, which occur between molecules. Hydrogen bonding can be observed between water molecules or N,O,or F bonds with hydrogen. These are important to know because they help us b...

Re: Ionization Energies
Losing four electrons would require a large amount of energy. The ionization energies for 4 electron removals with the elements of the group 14 would be very high. This way it would be more likely for them to gain 4 electrons to reach a stable state.

There needs to be enough energy to eject an electron and give it kinetic energy once ejected. This is obtained when a photon has enough energy and the light has surpassed the threshold frequency.
