When are doubled headed arrows used in chemical formulas, or in other words, arrows pointing in both directions? Is it when a reaction is reversible? In that case when is it acceptable to use these arrows against using arrows just pointing one way?

Shape of Molecules and Strength of Interaction

How does the shape of a molecule help to determine the strength of the interaction? I know that two examples were given in lecture having to do with rod-shaped and spherical molecules. However, I want to get further information as to how one has a stronger force than the other.

Expanded Octet Exception

I understand that for atoms in Group 3, P, S, Cl, and beyond, it is possible for them to utilize the d-orbitals to expand their octets. However, what I don't understand is how many more electrons are allowed when using the d-orbital. Is it a fixed number or does it vary per atom?

Problem 2B3 7th Edition

In the question, it asks to draw the Lewis structure of SiO2. I have the Solutions Manual on Chegg and on it, it shows that there are double bonds between the Si and each of the Oxygens. Can anyone explain to me why it's two double bonds instead of having the electrons drawn around the oxygens?
