I would recommend going back through the the textbook and reading the breakdown of steps for each type of problem. You can also try working backwards and look at the work written in the solutions manual.

Kp is used when all products and reactants in the equation are gases. Another indication to use Kp is if the question uses units like bar or atm. Kc is used when the molarity of the products and reactants is given, even though the products and reactants involved in the reaction are gases.

Lower pKb indicates a stronger base. We know that pKb is the -log(Kb) so if the value of Kb is large, pKb will be lower. The greater the value of Kb, the lower the value of pKb (stronger base).

It is a fair question to expect on Test 1. If a reaction is exothermic, delta H will be negative as heat is released while a reaction that is endothermic will have a positive delta H as heat is needed.

There is a table in the textbook and Dr. Lavelle also mentioned them during lecture! Strong acids are HI, H2SO4, HCl, HBr, HNO3, HClO4 and strong bases are group 1 and group 2 oxides and hydroxides excluding magnesium.

It does not make a difference because both (OH2) and (H2O) represent the same molecule; (OH2) simply highlights the interaction between the lone pair on the oxygen and the central metal atom.

Hybridization is determined using the VSEPR theory and considering the molecular shape of the molecule. Based on this, BeCl2 has an sp hybridization. BH3 has an sp2 hybridization. BH42 has an sp3 hybridization and SiF4 has an sp3 hybridization.

The strength of repulsion is as follows: lone pair-lone pair>lone pair- bonding pair> bonding pair- bonding pair. This allows us to conclude that lone pairs have the highest repulsion and therefore affect the bond angles, usually resulting in a slight decrease in the angles overall.

A double bond stabilizes the structure by bringing the formal charge closer to or equal to 0. A Lewis structure is most stable when the central atom has a formal charge of 0 and in some cases, a double bond is needed to achieve this.

Electronegativity does follow the same trend as ionization energy and electron affinity. Make sure to remember that there are a few exceptions to the ionization energy trend, but other than that these three properties all share the same trend (increasing across the period and decreasing down a group).

Aufbau's principle shows the order in which orbitals should be filled while Hund's rule describes that every orbital in a subshell should be occupied with one electron before any one orbital is doubly occupied, and all electrons in singly occupied orbitals have the same spin.

Formal charge compares the number of electrons around a "neutral atom" with the number of electrons around an atom in a molecule. It plays a key role in creating relatively stable lewis structures.

This equation shows the inverse relationship of the uncertainty of momentum and position, therefore proving that it is impossible to be certain of both values at the same time. Essentially, the more precise the momentum is, the less precise position is and vice versa.

Electronegativity is a property of an atom that isn't necessarily measurable while electron affinity is a value that can be measured. Both properties have the same periodic trend.

All equations will be provided but it will be helpful to familiarize yourself with problems dealing with these equations and the constants involved, such as Planck's constant, the mass of protons, neutrons, electrons, etc.

As mentioned in the previous post, the de broglie equation should be used for this problem. The calculations will show that there is no difference in the first three significant figures of the wavelength.

The best way to approach a unit conversion question is convert the units given to an SI unit and then use dimensional analysis to get to the desired unit-- in this case, you can convert Angstroms to meters.
