The acid accepts an electron (to help remember I just remember they both start with an 'a') and that the base donates an electron!

the octet rule just refers to how atoms prefer having eight electrons in their valence shells, which means their shell is completely full, making them very stable.

when electronegativity increases, it means that the pull on the electrons is greater making the electrons close to the nucleus. If it's closer to the nucleus its radius is going to be smaller
