Re: 2.Mass Percentage and Decimal Rounding:

Like other people are saying, it's probably best to round to the hundredths place. Personally, however, I like to round to the thousandths place to increase the likelihood that my percentages will add up to 100.

Re: Tips for Finding Which Number to Multiply a Decimal By to Get a Whole Number

Like other commenters have said, trial and error is often an effective option. I also like to try to convert my decimals into fractions before I find which number to multiply them by. If you have a TI-30 this is pretty easy to do.

Re: Molar Mass

An ion would simply have a different number of electrons. Since electrons do not have very much mass at all, an ion would not have a discernible different mass from any other ion of that element.

Re: Understanding how to get whole #s [ENDORSED]

You divide by the smallest number of moles at that point. If you don't have whole numbers after dividing once, start multiplying all of the numbers until all of them are whole. For example if you had 1.5 2 and 4, you would multiply them all by 2 to get 3, 4, and 8.

Re: Mass Percentage Composition Rounding

I typically round to the thousandths place when I do my percentages. If you try that and it doesn't add up to one hundred, you could try rounding to another 10,000th place and so on.
