I think this problem is just asking you which of the compounds is more ionic. Will we need to know how to calculate/do calculation with electron affinity on the midterm or just know the trends that periodic table follows(ie. which part of the table has the highest and lowest electron affinity)

Electronegativity is the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons while electron affinity is the energy required/released when an electron attaches to an atom(measured in eV).

I read the textbook after the lectures to make sure I really grasp what he wants us to know and then I do the homework problems. The modules are also extremely helpful because you can pause/slow down the video lecture to make you understand the concepts.

You usually divide by Avogadro's number when the question gives you the number of molecules and is asking you to find the number of moles of a compound.

I haven't taken chem since sophomore year of high school so I am in a similar position. One thing that I've been doing is reading the textbook pages that correspond to the lesson because I think it gives me a wider understanding of the topic.
