It also doesn't matter when your drawing out the configuration as long as you're consistent whether or not you have them spinning down or up every time

you can tell by using the formal charge of an atom or reconfiguring the lewis structure if you do not have enough electrons to fully complete the lewis structure.

I think the most useful way to study is to first complete the modules and then work on the homework problems that go over the questions you encountered throughout the module.

I was told that you don't have to pay too close attention to the sig figs so as long as you don't round with every step you should be fine.
