Most equations are on the reference sheet on the test. That being said it does not hurt to memorize or at least be very familiar with them.

Percent yield will always be multiplied by 100 to get the percentage.

Re: Deriving the DeBrogile Equation

Usually it is useful to be able to derive a simpler equation like this, as the derivation can be helpful for a question of a test.

Mass of Proton, Electron and Neutron

Will we have to memorize the masses for each or will it be included on the reference sheet?

Is the mass of an electron on the reference sheet?

I am pretty sure that is all you need to know, since that is all he mentioned in lecture.

If I remember correctly, Threshold Energy is the minimum amount of energy needed to eject electrons from the surface.

Angstroms are a unit of length equivalent to 10^(-10) m. I was taken aback by this question on the test as I do not ever remember being told we had to memorize the quant. value of Angstroms. Did I miss that in class, and if not how are we supposed to know what units/terms we are supposed the memori...

Re: Best Way To Study?

I find personally that the best way to study is to complete the modules before anything, they are a great introduction and really help me grasp the concept that is being presented. Next I'll give a go at the homework problems that were assigned and if I have any problems with those I will do more pr...

I am not sure how to get the mass of Oxygen. I was able to get the mass of C, H, and N, but am confused on what to do from here.

Naming Molecular Compounds

I am a little confused as to how to name compounds. I understand simple ones such as molecular compounds, but I can't seem to remember how to name compounds such as in H.25, when it asks to "name the different phosphorus oxides".

Re: Empirical and Molecular Formulas

I find the easiest way to remember is just to think of molar mass first whenever I hear molecular formula.

Re: General Rules to Help with Sig Figs

I am confused as to when to apply sig figs. Should I apply them throughout my problem at each step, or just at the end?
