I don't think you can tell, but you should just know they are spin paired so one is positive and one is negative.

Why is EDTA hexadentate? I understand that it is because of lone pairs on 2 nitrogens and 4 oxygens, but why are only 4 of the oxygens included in this calculation? Thanks!

The molecule is nonpolar if all of its dipole moments cancel out! It can still have dipole moments and be nonpolar, but if they do not all cancel out then it is polar.

It would still be polar because the dipole moments would all have to be the same in order for them to cancel out.

I believe electronegativity is a measure of how much an atom "wants" to gain an electron, whereas electron affinity is a measure of the amount of energy released when it does gain an electron.

For the first test I watched youtube videos and went to some of the Step Up sessions which were really helpful, but I think the most helpful thing I did was just doing all of the homework problems!

My TA said to use as many decimals as possible throughout the problem and calculations, and then only do Sig Figs for the final answer.

∝ is the sign! Basically instead of writing E = hv, you could write E ∝ v, which means that E is proportional to v (by a factor of h).

I went to 2 Step Up sessions for the first time today and they were very helpful! I would definitely recommend going. We went over some of the most challenging homework questions and in one of them a worksheet was provided.

Yes, because Avogadro's Number represents the amount of atoms per mole. Therefore when given the amount of moles you divide by Avogadro's Number to get the amount of atoms.
