the coefficient tells which energy level the orbitals came from

so if it was 2sp then the s and p orbitals came from the n = 2 energy shell

dont think we need to write it at all on the final tho

hydrogen bonds don't keep two atoms together in a molecule, they aren't that type of bond. they are a force of attraction between two separate molecules. double bonds are actual covalent bonds that form molecules.

yep, for those the same thing applies. If they're all the same element around the central atom then its non-polar

if all the bonded atoms are the same ( ex. CCl4, CH4) then there is no dipole

I think the bond lengths are all the same, we should be looking at the dipole moments for the atoms and how they face the dipoles of other atoms

polarity has to do with electronegativity differences, polarizability has to do with the ability to distort an ion's electron cloud

^^ the pulling of the electrons is sort of similar to the sharing of electrons in a covalent bond, which is why they call it covalent characteristic

looking at the electronegativity values might help, lavelle said between a difference of 1.5 and 2, bonds aren't definitely covalent or ionic

I'm having the same issue and I think its because I'm using the 6th edition book instead of the seventh, I'm not sure if the questions are just formatted differently or if they're entirely gone from the 6th edition book.
