Re: Sapling Week 1 #10
Because you know the concentrations for N2O4 and NO2, you just plug them into the equation for the equilibrium constant --> (NO2)^2/(N2O4)

Re: Reactants and Products
I think everyone said it well, yes that is technically true. Going off of left vs. right may lead you to a wrong answer though if the reactant and product were some how not in the right order. Just make sure to know it's the proper syntax to reactant --> product

I think you should memorize all of them but I remember one of the UAs saying that there are some shapes such as T-shape being pretty rare to occur in problems. The ones I put an emphasis on were bent, linear, tetrahedral, trigonal planar, and trigonal pyramidal but yeah I'd still try and memorize a...

Hey just to clarify, the final answer is tetraamminedichloro cobalt (III) chloride. I spelled the ammine part wrong and it said it was wrong three times, I was so confused why.

I think that the only exceptions we need to know to the Octet rule are: More than an octet: Chromium and Copper Chromium : we expect a configuration including 3d^{4} if we look at the PT, however, the observed configuration is actually [Ne] 3s^{2} 3p^{6} 3d^{5} 4s^{1} Copper : we expect to see 3d^{9...

The only way you can make an alternative formal charge would be to redraw the Lewis structure, however, the molecule must have resonance. Resonance means there is a blending of regular (single, double, triple) bond lengths, which occurs when the structure has multiple (possible) bonds in different l...

Midterm 1 Review
Hi, does anyone (or @ Dr. Lavelle) know when we will be able to review our Midterm 1 test scores?
Even though it's not material covered on MT 2, it is helpful to see if the way we were studying was effective and how it wasn't based on our mistakes.
Thanks!
