A strong acid has a small pKa value and a large Ka value, while a strong base has a small pKb value and a large Kb value. A weak acid has a large pKa value and a small Ka value, and a weak base has a large pKb value and a small Kb value. The pk's are the inverse of the acid/base.

I believe in professor Lavelle's class we want to assume that all gases are ideal gases. Unless told otherwise :)
