Re: delocalized pi bonds

Can someone explains what delocalized pi bonds are and how they differ from delocalized electron bonds ?

sapling 17 & 18

Hey, I am stuck on the drawing portions of these problems in Sapling. I understand the other parts of the questions and got them right, which makes me think I understand the overall properties and have a general understanding but I can't seem to figure out the structures according to Sapling. Any ti...

hi so does this mean that if we missed a couple of posts some weeks, we cannot make them up by posting more in following weeks ?

Re: grade worries

i am also reqlly worrried for grades because I don't know if anyone else had this problem but chem community was so hard to navigate for me. A couple of times I ended up on the Chem 14B section and so I just gave up on it for a while and now my anxiety about grades is starting to creep back up on me...

thank you so much for your advice! But as someone who is struggling in this class and fears that will not do good, do you have some tips on how to improve from here on forward?

Re: Chem 14B Enrollment

Definitely monitor the class as enrollment progresses because during my first enrollment it looked like the class was not going to be filled up but I used it anyways because I really wanted to and my other classes were not as essential. By the time the day my enrollment finished it was filled up. I ...

Re: Photoelectric effect [ENDORSED]

for part a, would you use some form of variation id c=(lambda)(frequency) ? This and the following question relates to the same metal used in a series of photoelectric experiments. A. If 3.607 x 10-19 J is required to remove an electron with zero kinetic energy from a metal surface, what would be th...

Re: How to calculate the kinetic energy, energy and frequenc [ENDORSED]

for part B, is there any particular reason why we should divide by Avogadro's number? I thought that the work function was the minimum amount needed to free the electron so that it would be a given? The steps to solve the problem are: 1. Use Ek = 1/2 mv^2 2. 2. Divide the total energy (work function...

Re: How to calculate the kinetic energy, energy and frequenc [ENDORSED]

So for part A, are there any additional steps to take after doing the 1/2 mv? Because I did that and I got a fairly large number that wasn't any of the options but I don't know where I went wrong. The steps to solve the problem are: 1. Use Ek = 1/2 mv^2 2. 2. Divide the total energy (work function) ...

Re: WK 1 Sapling #10

I also had questions about balancing that equation / assuming it was balanced. I googled 3‑methyl‑3‑hexanol, which I think just confused me more. But assuming it is balanced how were you guys able to tell? This might be repetitive sorry but I'm just trying to understand.
