Re: Study Advice

Step-up sessions are very helpful because the instructor could provide questions similar to what would be asked on the test. Its also a time where anyone can ask a question you didn't even know you had.

Re: Chemistry Community Points

If we forget about the weeks chemistry community participation should we email a TA? I missed my points but I still want to make them up. Also yes I believe responding to someone's general question counts as participation

Re: How are you studying?

The most important thing to stay on top is to watch lecture at the timeframe is signed up for. This gives me a weekly structured schedule that I can follow. I also attend plf sessions as a sort of review and to further my understanding.

Re: Textbook Questions

Honestly I feel that doing more practice questions helps helps more than picking out select questions. Don't know what could be on the test so its better to practice in volume.

Re: Sig Fig for numbers like 200, 3300, 4000

0.005 has 1 sig fig because there is a non-zero number. 0.0000 would have 0 sig figs. 200 has 1 sig fig because of the 2. However, if it was 200. then it would have 3 sig figs because the two 0s come before a decimal point

Re: Calculation Errors for Empirical Formulas

.80 or above is close enough to count as 1 but make sure to look at the rest of the numbers incase there is a case where .80 should be multiplied by 5

Re: for test 1

I don't think he will ask for the exact definition of these but he will want us to understand the concept when it is applied to a chemical reaction of some sort.

Re: Periodic Table

I believe that the periodic table we will be able to use on the test is given on the class website. None of it has to be memorized since we are able to use the table but I recommend knowing the atomic weight of the most popular elements like C,O,H,K so that it will be faster to calculate during the ...
