Re: 4s and 3d

I have in my notes that after 4s state/orbital is occupied and electrons enter the 3d state, then the 3d state is lower in energy than 4s, but for multi electron atoms after atomic number(z) 20 4s is in a higher state of energy than 3d. The atomic number(z) 20 is for Ca, which is when the 4s orbital...

Re: textbook 1f.7

If the M has a mass percentage of 88.8% then O has a mass percent of 11.2%. Then I divided the molar mass of O by 11.2, to get the amount of grams 1'% is equal to in this compound. Then I multiplied that number by 100% to find the molar mass of the 100% of the compound. Then I multiplied the number ...

Writing Equations [ENDORSED]

When we are asked to write chemical equations and they say _ gas, for example Nitrogen gas, do you always make it 2 like N2 and O2 when its a gas?

correction, your total energy is 3.89x10^-7, so you divide that number by your work funtion.

Re: Sapling HW Week 2, 3, 4 Question #7

Hi Maddie,
To find the number of electrons that could be ejected from the metal, divide the total energy of 7.23x10^-7 by the work function. That number will equal the number of photons, since the Js cancel out, and the number of photons is equal to the number of electrons.
Hope this helps!
