I think a good way to remember is by marking up a periodic table (specifically with labelled arrows indicating trends) and making a mental note of those arrows. It might also help to look at individual color-coded or representative periodic tables for each trend.

Yes, specifically an atom that loses an electron is a cation (positive ion) because it lost a negative charge; while an atom that gains an electron is an anion (negative ion) because it gained a negative charge.

Yes, you can have the same 3 quantum numbers, but the 4th number is the spin quantum number. Only two electrons can have the same first 3 quantum numbers, this is because the spin number only has two values (+1/2, -1/2.)

I doubt we'd be required to memorize the whole spectrum, but I agree with the posts above: it's probably best to have a general idea of how the spectrum is organized and its trends regarding frequencies and wavelengths.

Yes, threshold energy is the same as work function. The two can be used interchangeably to mean the energy required to remove electrons from metals.

We're allowed to use scientific calculators. It's best to include a few decimal places so you can get the most accurate solution when determining significant figures after your calculations are complete.
