I don't think we would have to memorize bond angles for each one but you should know the general idea about how each shape looks and be able to deduce from there what the values of the angles are around (for example 90 vs less than 90 degrees).

Yes, lone pairs are considered their own regions and they repel other regions strongly too. That is why when looking at the shape of molecules we have to consider lone pairs (because they repel the other bonds).

When you have this, I believe you use the radius of the atoms to see which one has a stronger bond. Since F has a smaller radius than Cl it will have a shorter bond and therefore be slightly stronger.

I just remember the largest radius as the corner opposite to electronegativity (diagonally across)! That way I don't have to memorize too much.

A cation pulls in an electron much more and therefore it requires more energy for it to be removed. After the first ionization, the atom loses a negative charge and therefore it becomes positive making the nucleus stronger requiring more energy for the next removal.

One thing I do is definitely keep my phone away from me. It helps me focus and keeps away any distractions. I also like to prepare my workspace before I work there. By this I mean grab water, clean my desk, and etc. I definitely understand the struggle of working at home so I hope this helps!

When you have more protons, the nucleus pulls on the electrons making it smaller despite possibly a larger amount of electrons. So the ion with the least protons will have the largest radius.

The process suggested seems correct. I just wanted to add that you should pay attention to your units to make sure you get the right value. So make sure to covert nm to m and make sure your mass is in kg!

The basic shapes of the orbitals and schrodingers (which are covered in Wednesday's lecture) should be on the midterm, but no more than that. I would go with what he wrote in the email and just know the shapes of the orbitals/schrodingers. I don't think you need to worry at all about today's lecture.

Don't worry, you are right! The uncertainty is the range (so you need to take into consideration that it can be from 0 to 10 m/s). I do not think "minimum" uncertainty means anything new for future references.

For me, definitely staying organized is super important! It can be super overwhelming with several assignments especially if you don't know when they are due and how much time you need for it. I use my planner to help block out times during the day where I will focus on specific topics or assignment...

I would print it out because then you don't have to spend time scrambling to find your PT during the midterm. Ensures that you have super easy access. I think Lavelle might provide a PT with equations that he may want us to print out later.

Adding to the previous answers, once the molecule comes together it then has it's own unique wavelengths that it accepts. The different ratios of atoms in each molecule will accept different wavelengths even if the elements are the same. Hope this helps.

I think the Balmer series is in the visible region whereas the Lyman series is in the ultraviolet region. So one of the main differences is just where they are on the electromagnetic spectrum.

I believe that the metal absorbs the light and the electrons become excited as if they are about to be emitted. It still takes in that energy it just doesn't end up being enough energy to break the free the electron.

Make sure to convert your units! The best way to check is to cancel out the units that you can and make sure to include them in your work (instead of just manipulating the numbers). This way you will know what values you may need to convert and you can find any mistakes more easily.

If you don't have it in its simplest form it definitely makes your work more difficult because you will have to multiply or divide by much larger numbers. This may leave more room for error when doing your calculations so you should always simplify.
