I thought of it like the diagram that we would draw, where deltaH is the difference in Reactants and Products, and then the activation energy is essentially how high up it goes from the reactants side. So I believe that the reverse activation energy would be just adding up the two.

It depends on which side of the equilibrium the reaction is. Say Q is greater than K, that means that there is more products than reactants, so the products would be -x and reactants would be +x to get back to equilibrium. And if Q is less than K it is the other way around.

Valence electrons are the number of electrons in the outer orbital. The number of electrons in orbitals go 2, and then 8 from there on. So, if you take P, with 15 electrons, you subtract 2, which gives you 13, then subtract 8, which gives you 5. That's how many valence electrons P has.

Bohr's Equation

Hello everyone, I was wondering what the difference is between the equation En=-hR/n^2 and the equation v(frequency)=R[1/n1^2-1/n2^2]. If someone can explain this in good detail that would be awesome. Thank you. :)

Midterm Questions

I was just wondering if he gave us the number of questions that will be on the final, or is it just going to be a surprise.

Review for Midterm

I just had a quick question that came up when I was reviewing for the midterm. I was going over the fundamentals and I was wondering if we would have to know the formula for a molecule just based on the name. For example, for F3, it says to write the formula for nitric acid. Do we need to know this ...

Re: Mass of atoms

If we are doing something that involves joules then we should use kilograms and we don't have to memorize any of the masses as they will be provided to us.

Re: Intensity vs. Frequency

The intensity has to do with the amount of photons that are in the beam of lights, whereas the frequency of the light is the amount of times that the wave repeats every second.

The n1 refers to the final energy level and n2 is the initial energy level.

I don't think we have to show any work at all if we don't need to as the test is multiple choice.

Alright thanks to everyone that replied. It makes it a lot easier to not have to memorize all of the constants.

Constants and Equations

I had a question concerning all of the constants and equations when it comes to the midterms. Will all of them be provided to us or will there be certain ones provided and the others we have to memorize? Or will we not be given any of them?

Re: What are the units for E

Energy is measured in Joules. Just remember that Joules can also be measured as kg*(m^2/s^2).

Re: Energy Difference Between n=1 and n=2 vs n=2 and n=3

I don't believe that he has explained the actual reasoning behind why there is a difference in the energy difference between the different levels and I don't think we will be tested on it either.
