Textbook Problem 1B27

1B.27 A bowling ball of mass 8.00 kg is rolled down a bowling alley lane at
5.00±5.0m⋅s−1. What is the minimum uncertainty in its position?

Could someone explain why we don't convert 8.00kg to grams in this problem

Thank you!

Re: Wavelength

Okay, thanks!
Is there a specific reason why we use kg for De Broglie's equation?

Wavelength

Is wavelength always converted into m or are there any instance where wavelength must be in nm?

Textbook problem Quantum World 1A 15

For this equation it asks for the n's when given 102.6 I know that ni(initial) is one. lol, so i really need help with this problem. I keep doing it and i'm doing all the steps people are telling me but I keep getting the wrong answer. I used this equation to get energy E=hc/λ which is 1.937x10^-18 ...

Re: Textbook problem 1A.15

I also had problem with the question. You would also need to use rydberg's equation

also keep in mind that it is UV which gives a hint as to what the initial orbital is

Textbook problem Quantum World 1A 15

Problem: In the ultraviolet spectrum of atomic hydrogen, a line is observed at 102.6 nm. Determine the values of n for the initial and final energy levels of the electron during the emission of energy that leads to this spectral line. So i solved for energy and got: 1.93x10^18 and then I plugged my ...

Re: Sapling Question #10

You should be able to find molar mass using the given info
X ml C4H8O*(xgrams/ml)=x grams of C4H8O

The masses on each side of the equation should be equal so if you subtract you can find the molar mass of the others.

I don't believe your marked down. I think the HW competition, but you won't get the credit until all answers are correct

Re: Avogadro's Constant

The previous response is correct. Avogadro's constant is literally a conversion for "things"... so literally, anything that hasn't already been defined.. hahaha ik its very vague but its a great constant to use if you're trying to convert from a measurement you've never used before

Re: Sapling HW #6

If you add the masses you should get 125.55 g. Then you should be able to find the mol. With the mol, you can set up a proportion to find ml:
(mol1)(ml1)=(mol2)(ml2)

Sapling Week 1 #8

I'm trying to type in the molecular formula for the first part, for example:
C6H8O6, but its not letting me type in letters. Is anyone else having this problem?
