Yeah any is allowed, their only concern is probably students storing information on graphing calculators. Since we are proctored as long as you don't do anything suspicious you need not worry.

Agreed with the above. n refers to number of moles of electrons transferred, so to find out from the equation it's best to split it into the half equations and using the charges to determine how many were moved.

50%, which is considered a C- in this class. So you need 200 points or more out of the 400 available, which comes from 50 sapling, 50 chemistry community, 80 for each midterm, and 140 for the final.

Just finished Legend of Korra for the first time and I really liked it. It's basically a sequel to Avatar: the Last Airbender, with a more mature setting and complex villains who are somewhere in the gray area. Definitely recommend.

Yeah lots of studies showing that handwriting notes causes much greater remembrance of the concepts, but I have tried both and typing is much faster and for some people like me with chicken scratch handwriting much more legible.

Oh it wasn't just me who felt like the second midterm kicked me in the shins ha. I think just reviewing textbook problems are your best bet, because chemistry like math is much more understandable when one just goes through the motions of problem solving.

Bond length depends on the atoms bonding, so there is really no way for you to know without actual experimentally finding it. You can usually guess bond angle though, thanks to VSEPR theory.

All my answers involve 10 to the power of a whole integer, so I think maybe you can use rational numbers for the first part and a 10 to the (insert whole integer) for the second part. Hope this helps!

Generally you want to put them as far apart as possible (so axial is the best). There was a sapling problem on the Week 10 homework where it was shown that Sr(OH)2 is a stronger base than KOH, so I think that since the group 2 elements bond to two hydroxide molecules each, they are stronger than group 1 elements, which bind to only one hydroxide molecule.

I think the iron is making two covalent bonds with the nitrogens (solid lines) but also making 2 coordinate covalent bonds with the other two nitrogens (dotted lines). Those do not count towards its oxidation state, hence it is +2.

Usually the molecules that are tetrahedral involve an atom that makes 4 bonds and has no lone pairs. For example, Carbon Tetrachloride (CCl4) involves a carbon in the center surrounded by the 4 chlorine atoms. I believe that Be and Mg have small bonds that are very strong and hard to break in order to be strong bases, similar to how the halogens are all strong acids except for hydrofluoric acid (HF), which has a small and strong bond.

Yeah I think we just need to know the trend of electronegativity along the periodic table, which follows electron affinity in that it increases the closer one gets to the top and right side of the table (almost noble gas).
