For me it really helps to count the electrons first and then I try to follow the octet rule.

Also does anyone know if we will have access to the questions we received wrong. I don't think I could access the first one and other classes gave back the correct answers, which could be helpful to study for finals.

Hello Rose, I agree with Sophia, to my understanding it was because the Aldehydes have a "polar carbonyl group" and no O-H bond.

Keep in mind: Number of valance electrons (found in periodic table) are the dots in the Lewis structure. Non-metal elements want 8 valance electrons ("full octet"). Except for H which wants 2 valance electrons. In covalent bonding 1 line (single bond) = 2 electrons 2 lines( double bond) = ...

In terms of calculators, I have been using an app on my phone as a calculator.

Wavelength: the length of the waves

- if the waves are close together = high frequency
- if the waves are further apart and more dispersed = low frequency
